In a bright garden full of flowers, a little snail named Speedy lives under a leafy green bush. With his soft cream body, glossy amber shell, tiny red messenger cap and small brown satchel with a gold buckle, he watches the other creatures zoom past and wishes he could be fast like them. One sunny morning he decides to start his own delivery service, announcing that although he may be slow, he will be careful and reliable. His friend Bella the butterfly, with her orange wings, purple scarf and silver glasses, laughs at the idea at first, and a grasshopper and a cricket tease him too.
Speedy sets up a tiny leaflet stand near the garden gate and begins with small jobs: a seed for a mouse, a note for a ladybug. Each trip takes a long time, but he always arrives, and the garden creatures slowly begin to notice that he is slow but steady. Bella changes her mind and spreads the word from flower to flower. Then Grandpa Beetle, the wise old elder with a gold pocket watch, entrusts him with a sealed invitation that must reach Old Lady Ladybug across the garden, past the tall sunflowers and the rocky path, by noon the next day.
Speedy studies the garden map, plans the safest route, packs water and lettuce, and sets off at sunrise, meeting a caterpillar who warns him of a fallen twig and finding a detour through the soft moss. The story teaches young readers that patience, planning and reliability matter more than speed, and that quiet persistence can earn trust and friendship. It is suited to children who enjoy gentle garden tales with animal characters.

A Chapter from the Book
The Snail's Speedy Delivery - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
In a bright garden full of flowers, a little snail named Speedy lived under a leafy green bush. He had a soft cream body, a glossy amber shell, and kind dark eyes on short stalks. Speedy wore a tiny red messenger cap and carried a small brown satchel with a gold buckle. He loved to watch the other garden creatures zoom by and wished he could be fast like them. 1
One sunny morning, Speedy had a wonderful idea. "I will start a delivery service!" he announced to the garden. He polished his satchel and practiced tying his cap. "I may be slow, but I will be careful and reliable," he said. He imagined carrying letters and packages to every corner of the garden, making everyone happy with his thoughtful service. 2
Speedy told his friend Bella the butterfly about his plan. Bella had bright orange wings with black edges and wore a purple scarf and silver glasses. She fluttered around him, laughing. "A speedy delivery? From a snail? That's funny!" she teased. But Speedy just smiled and said, "Wait and see. I may surprise you." Bella raised her eyebrows but said nothing more. 3
Speedy set up a tiny leaflet stand near the garden gate. He posted a sign that read, "Speedy's Reliable Deliveries." At first, the other insects giggled. "You're too slow!" called a grasshopper. "A delivery would take all day!" chirped a cricket. But Speedy kept his smile and promised, "I may be slow, but I am reliable. I will never lose a single letter." 4
Days passed, and Speedy made small deliveries: a seed to a mouse, a note to a ladybug. Each trip took him a long time, but he always arrived. The garden creatures began to notice. "He's slow, but he's steady," said a spider. Bella watched from above and thought, "Maybe there's more to Speedy than I first thought." She decided to help spread the word. 5
Bella flew from flower to flower, telling everyone about Speedy's service. "He's not fast, but he's careful!" she said. Some creatures still laughed, but others began to trust Speedy with important messages. Speedy felt proud. He planned each route carefully, checking the safest paths and starting early so he would never be late. His satchel was always full of letters. 6
One afternoon, Grandpa Beetle, the wise old garden elder, called for Speedy. Grandpa Beetle had a shiny green shell, white eyebrows, and a gold pocket watch. "Speedy," he said, "I have a very important invitation. It's for a grand party at the end of the garden. It must arrive on time. Can you deliver it?" Speedy nodded solemnly. "I will do my best," he promised. 7
Grandpa Beetle handed Speedy a tiny envelope sealed with wax. "The party is tomorrow at noon," he said. "It's for my dear friend, Old Lady Ladybug. She lives across the garden, past the tall sunflowers and the rocky path. It's a long journey for a snail." Speedy looked at the envelope and felt a flutter in his tummy. But he straightened his red cap and said, "I'll start early." 8
That evening, Speedy studied the garden map. He traced the safest route with his tiny antennae. "I'll avoid the rocky path and take the smooth leaf road," he planned. "I'll start at dawn and rest only briefly." He packed a leaf of water and a bit of lettuce for energy. Bella flew by and saw him planning. "You're really taking this seriously," she said, impressed. "Of course," said Speedy. "Reliability matters." 9
At sunrise, Speedy set off. He slithered along the smooth leaf road, his satchel bouncing gently. The journey was slow, but he didn't mind. He greeted the early birds and waved to the waking flowers. Bella flew ahead to cheer him on. "You're doing great!" she called. Speedy smiled and kept moving, one tiny step at a time. He knew he had plenty of time if he didn't stop. 10
Halfway there, Speedy met a friendly caterpillar who warned him about a fallen twig blocking the path. "You'll have to go around," said the caterpillar. Speedy thanked him and carefully chose a new route. He didn't panic. He checked his map and found a safe detour through the soft moss. "Slow and steady," he whispered to himself. "I can do this." 11
As noon approached, Speedy finally reached Old Lady Ladybug's house. He was tired but right on time. He knocked on the tiny door and delivered the invitation. Ladybug was delighted! "You're just in time!" she exclaimed. "I was so worried I wouldn't get the invitation. You're a hero!" Speedy blushed under his cap. "I just did my job," he said. "But I'm glad I could help." 12
Back at the garden party, everyone cheered for Speedy. Bella fluttered around him, beaming. "I was wrong to laugh," she said. "You're the most reliable snail I know!" Grandpa Beetle patted Speedy's shell. "You see," he said, "careful planning and determination are true strengths. You may be slow, but you never give up. That's what matters most." Speedy felt a warm glow inside. 13
From that day on, Speedy's delivery service was busier than ever. Everyone trusted him with their most important letters. He still took his time, planned every route, and started early. And he always arrived right on time. Bella became his official helper, flying ahead to clear the way. Together, they made sure every delivery was a success.
