The Rabbit's Secret Party

The Rabbit's Secret Party

Ebru Mina TOMURCUK

In the heart of the green woods lives Rosie, a small rabbit with soft cream fur and a sky-blue pinafore dress, who loves to hop and play and make everyone happy. One morning near the bramble bushes she meets a new friend: Pip, a small hedgehog with a light brown spiny back, big timid eyes and a little green knitted scarf. Seeing how shy and quiet Pip is, Rosie decides that a secret party would help Pip make friends and feel at home, and she begins planning balloons, games and laughter.

Rosie invites her good friends Bramble the bear cub, who carries a satchel of storybooks, and Willow the owl, calm and bespectacled in a lavender shawl. Together they gather berries and nuts and plan gentle games. But when Rosie goes to invite Pip, Pip whispers that big crowds and too many noises make him want to hide. Rosie's ears droop, and she realizes her celebration might be too much for her shy friend. She thinks about what Pip said and changes her plan: only a few friends, quiet games and a cozy spot under the old oak tree.

The book follows that small gathering of hide-and-seek, a quiet treasure hunt and Willow's soft storytelling, and it shows young readers what happens when a child pays attention to someone else's feelings instead of assuming everyone enjoys the same things. The lesson is simple and warm: welcoming others means listening to them and adjusting, and a gentle, thoughtful party can make a shy friend feel safe and loved.

The Rabbit's Secret Party - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK

In the heart of the green woods, where sunshine danced through the leaves, lived a small rabbit named Rosie. She had soft cream fur, long upright ears with pale pink inside, and a gentle smile. Rosie wore a sky-blue pinafore dress with a daisy pocket and a yellow ribbon tied at one ear. She loved to hop and play and make everyone happy. 1

One morning, Rosie met a new friend near the bramble bushes. It was a small hedgehog named Pip, with a light brown spiny back and a soft tan face. Pip had big, dark, timid eyes and tiny paws held close to the chest. A little green knitted scarf was wrapped snugly around Pip's neck. Pip spoke very softly and stayed close to the bushes. 2

Rosie noticed that Pip seemed shy and stayed quiet. She thought, "A secret party would be fun! Pip could make new friends and feel happy." So Rosie began to plan a celebration in the woods. She imagined balloons, big games, and lots of laughing. Her heart felt light and cheerful as she hopped home to make a list of friends to invite. 3

Rosie invited her good friends Bramble the bear cub and Willow the owl. Bramble was a sturdy honey-brown bear with a red-and-white striped scarf and a brown satchel for storybooks. Willow was a calm grey-and-white owl with round spectacles and a lavender shawl. They both loved parties and promised to help Rosie with her secret plan. 4

Rosie and Bramble gathered berries and nuts for a tasty snack. They planned gentle games like hide-and-seek and a quiet treasure hunt. Willow offered to bring her storybooks and read aloud. Rosie smiled, thinking of how much fun Pip would have. They decided to keep the party a secret and surprise Pip the next day. 5

But when Rosie went to invite Pip, she saw that Pip looked worried. Pip whispered, "I'm scared of big crowds. Too many noises make me want to hide." Rosie's ears drooped. She realized her party might be too much for her shy friend. She needed a new plan, one that would make Pip feel safe. 6

Rosie thought about what Pip said. She didn't want her friend to feel scared. So she decided to make the party smaller and gentler. She would invite only a few friends and plan quiet games. Rosie told Bramble and Willow about the change, and they agreed it was a kind idea. They all wanted Pip to feel welcome. 7

Rosie sent little invitations to just Bramble, Willow, and Pip. She chose a cozy spot under the old oak tree. She set out soft blankets and cushions for everyone to sit on. Bramble helped carry the snacks in his satchel, and Willow brought her storybooks. The small party felt warm and friendly, not big or loud. 8

On the day of the party, Rosie led Pip to the oak tree. Pip's big dark eyes grew wide with surprise. "A party for me?" Pip whispered. Rosie nodded and smiled. "Just a few friends, and gentle games," she said. Pip's tiny paws relaxed a little, and a small smile peeked out. The secret was out, and it was happy. 9

The friends started with a gentle game of hide-and-seek. Bramble tried to be quiet, but his big paws made soft thumps. Everyone giggled, even Pip. Then they played a quiet treasure hunt, finding shiny acorns and smooth pebbles. Pip found a tiny blue feather and held it up proudly. The games were calm and fun, and Pip joined in more and more. 10

After the games, they sat on the blankets for storytelling. Willow put on her round spectacles and opened a book. She read in a soft, gentle voice about a brave little mouse. Pip listened with wide eyes, feeling cozy in the green scarf. Bramble passed around berries, and everyone munched happily. The woods felt peaceful and safe. 11

Pip took a deep breath and said, "This is nice. I was scared before, but now I feel happy." Rosie's heart swelled with joy. She had listened to her friend and made the party just right. The small gathering showed that kindness and thinking about others can make everyone feel welcome. Pip smiled, and Rosie knew she had done something good. 12

As the sun began to set, the friends packed up the blankets. Pip gave Rosie a gentle hug. "Thank you for the best party," Pip whispered. Bramble and Willow waved good-bye, their hearts full. Rosie felt warm inside, knowing that a small party with gentle games and storytelling had made a shy friend feel safe and loved. 13

Back at home, Rosie thought about the day. She learned that welcoming others means paying attention to their feelings. A big party would have scared Pip, but a small, gentle one made everyone happy. Rosie decided to always be kind and thoughtful. She hung the blue feather Pip found on her wall, a reminder of the special day. 14

The next morning, Rosie saw Pip in the woods. Pip was smiling and chatting with a little squirrel. The small party had given Pip confidence to make new friends. Rosie hopped over, and they played together. Pip said, "Your party was perfect. I didn't feel scared at all." Rosie beamed, glad her kindness had helped.
