Lily is a small rabbit with soft cream-white fur and long upright ears who spends her days exploring the garden she loves, hopping between the carrots and lettuces. One sunny morning, while digging near the old oak tree, her paw touches something hard and cold: a golden telescope carved with little pictures of mountains and flowers. When she holds it to her eye and looks toward the tall mountain beyond her garden, she sees the most beautiful gardens she has ever imagined, and a flutter of curiosity sends her packing the telescope into her brown satchel to go and see them for herself.
On her way out, Lily meets Grandpa Fern, the old rabbit next door, who encourages her to be brave and follow her heart. The path grows steeper, and along the way she encounters Pip, a tiny glowing sprite with violet eyes and dragonfly wings who carries a lantern and knows a secret place: a forgotten greenhouse full of wonders. Together they climb past pine trees and unfamiliar wildflowers until they reach the old glass greenhouse, where Lily discovers glowing plants, honey-scented flowers, a shimmering fountain, and moonberries that grow only in secret gardens.
The story follows Lily's curiosity from a glimpse through a lens to a real journey, and the lesson it offers young readers is that curiosity is worth acting on and that courage and an open heart can lead to genuine discovery. It is a gentle tale suited to children and to parents or teachers reading aloud, celebrating exploration, friendship with unexpected companions, and the quiet pleasure of finding something wonderful just beyond the familiar garden path.

The Rabbit's Golden Telescope - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Lily was a small rabbit with soft cream-white fur and long ears that stood up straight. She loved to explore her garden, hopping between the carrots and lettuces. One sunny morning, while digging near the old oak tree, her paw touched something hard and cold. It was a golden telescope, shiny and bright! Lily's big amber eyes opened wide with wonder. 1
Lily carefully picked up the golden telescope and turned it over in her paws. It had little pictures of mountains and flowers carved into its shiny surface. She held it to her eye and looked toward the tall mountain beyond her garden. What she saw made her gasp with delight. Far away, on the mountain's peak, were the most beautiful gardens she had ever seen! 2
Lily lowered the telescope and blinked. The mountain looked so far away, and she had never been there before. She felt a flutter of curiosity in her tummy. 'I wonder what those gardens are like,' she said to herself. She packed the telescope into her brown satchel, put on her red neckerchief, and decided to go and see for herself. 3
On her way out of the garden, Lily met Grandpa Fern, the old rabbit who lived next door. He wore a moss-green cardigan and leaned on a wooden walking stick. 'Where are you off to, little Lily?' he asked, his green eyes crinkling kindly. Lily showed him the telescope and told him about the gardens on the mountain. 'Ah,' said Grandpa Fern, 'curiosity is a wonderful thing. Be brave, and follow your heart.' 4
Lily hopped along the path that led toward the mountain. The grass was tall, and the flowers nodded as she passed. She felt a little nervous but mostly excited. The mountain loomed ahead, its peak hidden in a soft white cloud. Lily clutched her satchel and kept going, her fluffy tail bobbing behind her. She was ready for an adventure! 5
The path grew steeper, and Lily had to climb over rocks and roots. She was puffing a little when she heard a tiny voice. 'Hello up there!' it said. Lily looked around and saw a small, glowing creature no bigger than her paw. It had pale green skin, violet eyes, and wings like a dragonfly. It wore a woven grass hat and carried a tiny lantern on its belt. 'I'm Pip,' said the sprite. 'Are you lost?' 6
'No,' said Lily, 'I'm looking for the gardens on the mountain.' Pip's violet eyes sparkled. 'I know a secret place,' Pip said. 'A forgotten greenhouse full of wonders. I can show you the way!' Lily was delighted. She followed Pip up the winding path, and they chatted about the flowers and the birds they saw. Pip's little lantern glowed warmly, lighting their way. 7
As they climbed higher, the air grew cooler, and the plants around them changed. Lily saw tall pine trees and colorful wildflowers she had never seen before. Pip pointed out a family of butterflies dancing in the breeze. 'We're almost there,' Pip said. 'The greenhouse is just around the next bend.' Lily's heart beat fast with excitement. She couldn't wait to see what was inside. 8
They turned the corner, and there it was: a beautiful old greenhouse with glass walls that sparkled in the sunlight. Vines climbed over its roof, and the door was slightly open. Lily peered inside and gasped. The greenhouse was filled with the most amazing plants! There were flowers of every color, tall ferns, and trees with strange, delicious-looking fruits. 'Oh, it's wonderful!' Lily whispered. 9
Pip led Lily through the greenhouse, showing her the treasures inside. There were plants that glowed softly in the shadows and flowers that smelled like honey. Lily saw a fountain with water that shimmered like diamonds. 'This place has been forgotten for years,' Pip said. 'But I keep it tidy. I'm glad you came to see it.' Lily felt so happy that her curiosity had brought her here. 10
Lily explored every corner of the greenhouse. She found a little pond with fish that swam in circles, and a tree that grew tiny, sweet berries. 'These are moonberries,' Pip explained. 'They only grow in secret gardens.' Lily tasted one, and it was the most delicious thing she had ever eaten. She wished she could stay forever, but she knew she had to go home before dark. 11
Before leaving, Lily took out her golden telescope and looked through it one more time. She saw her own garden far below, and the beautiful gardens on the mountain. 'The telescope showed me distant gardens,' she said to Pip, 'but my curiosity led me to a real adventure.' Pip smiled. 'That's the best kind of adventure,' Pip said. 'And you can always come back to visit.' 12
Lily hugged Pip goodbye and promised to return soon. She climbed back down the mountain, feeling brave and happy. When she reached her garden, Grandpa Fern was waiting for her. 'Did you find what you were looking for?' he asked. Lily nodded and told him all about the greenhouse and her new friend Pip. Grandpa Fern listened with a warm smile. 13
'I'm proud of you, Lily,' Grandpa Fern said. 'You followed your curiosity and found something wonderful.' Lily gave him a big hug. She put the golden telescope back in her satchel, knowing she would use it again. That night, she fell asleep dreaming of the forgotten greenhouse and the friends she had made. She knew that more adventures were waiting.
