In the soft blue evening, when the stars first twinkle, a little hedgehog named Pip wraps his sky-blue polka-dot scarf around his neck and checks his small brown satchel with the brass buckle. Tonight is the night of the dream train! Pip scurries to the station at the edge of the meadow, where the dream train shimmers like moonlight on water, its wheels made of spun sugar and its windows glowing with colors no one has ever named. Conductor Owl, tall and stately in a deep purple coat and peaked cap, welcomes passengers aboard for the dream worlds.

Inside, the train is cozy and strange, with lanterns floating like fireflies and seats as soft as clouds. Pip finds a seat by the window and watches dreamscapes roll by: mountains of marshmallow, rivers of ribbon, and trees that sing lullabies. Then he notices a small passenger in the corner—a plump, shy mole named Milo, wearing a mustard-yellow knitted vest and a red-and-white striped nightcap, his round spectacles foggy and his pinkish paws clutching a tiny green backpack. Milo is sad because he cannot find a happy dream; every dream he tries feels wobbly and sad. Pip sits beside him and offers to help. Together they journey through the Meadow of Floating Lanterns, the Sea of Soft Songs, and the Garden of Wishes, where they discover that imagination and friendship can turn even the wobbliest dream into something wonderful.

This gentle story teaches children that feelings can be confusing but are always valid, and that with a friend's support and a little imagination, they can find happiness within themselves. It is perfect for young readers who enjoy whimsical adventures and heartwarming tales about kindness and courage.

The Hedgehog's Dream Train - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK

In the soft blue evening, when the stars first twinkle, a little hedgehog named Pip wrapped his sky-blue polka-dot scarf around his neck. He checked his small brown satchel with the brass buckle. Tonight was the night of the dream train! Pip's round amber eyes sparkled with excitement. He scurried to the station at the edge of the meadow. 1

The dream train shimmered like moonlight on water. Its wheels were made of spun sugar, and its windows glowed with colors no one had ever named. Conductor Owl, tall and stately in a deep purple coat and peaked cap, spread his broad wings. 'All aboard for the dream worlds!' he hooted warmly. Pip hopped up the steps, his tiny paws trembling with joy. 2

Inside, the train was cozy and strange. Lanterns floated like fireflies, and the seats were as soft as clouds. Pip found a seat by the window and pressed his small black nose to the glass. Outside, dreamscapes rolled by: mountains of marshmallow, rivers of ribbon, and trees that sang lullabies. 'Oh, how wonderful!' Pip whispered. Then he noticed a small passenger in the corner. 3

It was a mole, plump and shy, wearing a mustard-yellow knitted vest and a red-and-white striped nightcap. His round spectacles were foggy, and his pinkish paws clutched a tiny green backpack. 'Are you all right?' Pip asked gently. The mole shook his head. 'I can't find a happy dream,' he sniffled. 'Every dream I try feels wobbly and sad.' 4

Pip sat beside the mole. 'I'm Pip,' he said. 'What's your name?' 'Milo,' the mole whispered. 'I've never been on the dream train before. It's so big and strange.' Pip smiled his warmest smile. 'Don't worry, Milo. We'll find a happy dream together. I have an idea!' He opened his satchel and pulled out a tiny jar of honey drops. 5

Conductor Owl glided down the aisle. 'Next stop: the Meadow of Floating Lanterns!' he announced. The train slowed, and outside the window, hundreds of glowing lanterns drifted into the sky. Milo pressed his nose to the glass. 'They're pretty,' he said, 'but they make me feel lonely.' Pip thought hard. 'Maybe we can imagine something else,' he said. 'Something warm and friendly.' 6

Pip closed his eyes. 'I imagine a picnic with all our friends,' he said. 'We're sitting on a blanket, and the lanterns are dancing just for us.' Milo closed his eyes too. 'I see it!' he gasped. 'There's a cake with berries on top, and everyone is laughing!' For a moment, the lanterns seemed to twinkle brighter, as if they were laughing too. 7

But then the train jolted, and Milo's nightcap slipped over his eyes. 'Oh no!' he cried. 'My happy dream wobbled away!' Pip patted his paw. 'That's okay,' he said. 'Dreams can be wobbly. We just have to catch them again.' Conductor Owl nodded wisely. 'The next stop is the Sea of Soft Songs. Perhaps you'll find your dream there.' 8

The Sea of Soft Songs was a gentle ocean of music. Waves of melody rolled onto a beach of pink sand, and friendly fish sang in bubbly voices. Milo listened, but his spectacles drooped. 'The songs are beautiful,' he said, 'but they make me feel a little sad. I don't know why.' Pip hugged him. 'Feelings are like that sometimes. Let's listen together.' 9

As they listened, Pip imagined a song just for Milo. 'I hear a song about a brave little mole who travels through dreams,' he said. 'And in the song, the mole helps a hedgehog find his lost honey drop.' Milo giggled. 'That's silly!' But his brown eyes behind the spectacles began to shine. 'I think I hear it too,' he said. 'It's a happy song!' 10

Conductor Owl checked his brass pocket watch. 'One more stop,' he said. 'The Garden of Wishes.' The train glided into a garden where flowers bloomed in every color, and fireflies spelled out wishes in the air. Milo took a deep breath. 'I wish for a dream where I'm not scared,' he said. Pip squeezed his paw. 'I wish for a dream where we're together.' 11

Suddenly, the garden shimmered, and their wishes twirled together like dancers. A warm light wrapped around Milo, and he laughed out loud. 'I see it!' he cried. 'A dream with a treehouse and a slide and a hundred friendly birds! And you're there, Pip, with your blue scarf!' Pip laughed too. 'I see it! And we're having a picnic with honey drops!' 12

The dream train chugged back toward the station, its windows glowing with happy colors. Milo's nightcap sat straight, and his spectacles sparkled. 'I found my happy dream,' he said. 'And it was in me all along, with your help.' Pip smiled. 'Imagination is like a key,' he said. 'It helps us open the door to our feelings.' Conductor Owl hooted softly. 13

At the station, the stars were fading into dawn. Conductor Owl tipped his cap. 'You were brave and kind, Pip,' he said. 'And Milo, you found your courage.' Milo hugged Pip tightly. 'Thank you for helping me,' he whispered. 'Friendship makes every journey brighter,' Pip said. They promised to meet again on the dream train. 14

Pip walked home through the dewy meadow, his satchel full of happy memories. He thought about Milo's laugh and the garden of wishes. He realized that imagination had helped him understand his own feelings too. When he felt shy or scared, he could imagine a friend beside him. He hugged his blue scarf and smiled.
