On the first snowy day of winter, a girl named Lily puts on her red pom-pom hat, teal coat, and brown snow boots and runs out into the woods behind her house. There she meets a winter fox whose body is made of sparkling snowflakes and pale blue frost, glowing softly from within. The fox tells her that the winter decorations of the forest are broken and the woods look plain without them, and Lily, unafraid and eager to help, offers to fix them together.
Side by side, the two repair a string of little lanterns, wind a fallen garland of pinecones back around a trunk, untangle a snowflake banner, and straighten a wreath of frosted berries and a row of wooden signs. As they work, the fox explains that it glows when it is happy, and Lily learns that kindness and teamwork can light up even the coldest night. The forest slowly comes alive with warm, twinkling light.
When the wind changes and the snow begins to fall faster, the fox gently explains that it cannot stay once the snow stops. Lily feels sad but learns to be brave, understanding that a short, magical night can be remembered forever. This gentle tale is suited to young children and to anyone reading aloud at bedtime, offering a quiet story about friendship, helpfulness, and saying goodbye.

A Chapter from the Book
The Girl and the Winter Fox - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
The first snow of winter fell softly on the village. A girl named Lily pulled on her bright red hat with the pom-pom, her matching mittens, and her warm scarf. She buttoned her teal coat with the wooden buttons and stepped into her brown snow boots. Snowflakes danced around her rosy cheeks as she ran outside to play. 'What a perfect day for an adventure!' she said, her warm hazel eyes sparkling with excitement. 1
Lily wandered into the woods behind her house. The trees wore thick white blankets of snow, and the world was quiet and still. Suddenly, a shimmer of light caught her eye. Out of the falling snowflakes, a fox appeared. Its body was made of sparkling snowflakes and pale blue frost, glowing softly from within. Its eyes were bright white-blue, like tiny stars. 'Hello,' whispered the fox, its voice like tinkling ice. 2
Lily gasped, but she was not afraid. The fox was the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Its crystalline fur shimmered, and a faint icy mist trailed from its tail. 'I am a winter fox,' it said. 'I come when the snowflakes dance.' Lily smiled her warm smile. 'I'm Lily. Would you like to play?' The fox nodded, and tiny snowflake sparkles drifted around its body as it turned toward the woods. 3
The fox led Lily deeper into the forest. 'The winter decorations are all broken,' it said sadly. 'The woods look plain without them.' Lily saw a string of little lanterns hanging crookedly from a branch. Some had gone out. 'Let's fix them!' she said. The fox's eyes sparkled. 'You would help me?' Lily nodded. 'Of course! Friends help each other.' The fox's glow grew a little brighter. 4
They started with the lanterns. Lily stood on a fallen log and reached up to straighten the string. The fox blew a gentle breath of frost, and the tiny lights flickered back to life. 'They're glowing!' Lily cheered. The fox's body sparkled with joy. 'One decoration done,' it said. 'Many more to go.' They hurried to the next tree, where a garland of pinecones had fallen to the ground. 5
Lily gathered the pinecones and wound them back around the trunk. The fox touched each one with its nose, leaving a dusting of snowflake sparkles. 'Now they look magical,' Lily said. The fox's tail swished, sending icy mist into the air. 'You are good at this,' it said. Lily laughed. 'So are you!' They worked side by side, and the woods began to glow with soft, twinkling light. 6
Next, they found a snowflake banner tangled in a bush. Lily untangled it carefully with her red mittens. The fox hovered beside her, its glow lighting the way. 'Why do you glow?' Lily asked. 'I glow when I am happy,' said the fox. 'And helping you makes me very happy.' Lily felt warm inside, even in the cold. 'Helping you makes me happy too,' she said. 7
They hung the banner between two trees, and it sparkled in the moonlight. The fox's body shimmered brighter than ever. 'Look at you!' Lily said. 'You're like a star!' The fox twirled, and snowflakes swirled around them. 'It is because of you,' it said. 'Your kindness makes me shine.' Lily's cheeks turned pink, and not just from the cold. 'Come on,' she said. 'Let's finish the rest.' 8
They fixed a wreath of frosted berries, and the fox added a touch of frost to each berry. They straightened a row of little wooden signs, and Lily brushed the snow off each one. The fox's glow lit up the path, and Lily's boots crunched happily in the snow. 'We make a great team,' Lily said. The fox nodded, its crystalline fur sparkling. 'The best team,' it agreed. 9
As they worked, the woods came alive with gentle light. The lanterns glowed warmly, the garlands sparkled, and the banner fluttered in the breeze. 'It's beautiful,' Lily whispered. The fox sat beside her, its snowflake body shimmering. 'You did this,' it said. 'I only helped.' Lily shook her head. 'We did it together.' The fox's eyes shone with friendship. 10
Then the wind changed, and the snowflakes began to fall faster. The fox looked up at the sky. 'The night is ending,' it said softly. 'I must go soon.' Lily's heart felt a little heavy. 'So soon?' The fox nodded. 'I am made of snowflakes. I cannot stay when the snow stops.' Lily's warm hazel eyes filled with tears, but she smiled her brave smile. 11
The fox stepped close and pressed its cold nose to Lily's mitten. 'Do not be sad,' it said. 'Tonight was magical because it was short. You will remember it always.' Lily hugged the fox gently. 'I will never forget you,' she said. The fox's glow wrapped around her like a warm blanket. 'And I will never forget you,' it whispered. 'Friendship like ours stays forever.' 12
The snowflakes began to slow, and the fox's body started to fade. Its edges turned soft and misty. 'Goodbye, Lily,' it said. 'Thank you for the best night ever.' Lily waved her red mitten. 'Goodbye, Winter Fox.' The fox smiled, and then it dissolved into a thousand tiny snowflakes. They drifted up into the sky, sparkling like stars, until they disappeared into the night. 13
Lily stood alone in the quiet woods, but she did not feel lonely. The decorations glowed softly around her, a reminder of their magical evening. She touched her heart. 'The magic is still here,' she whispered. She walked home under the falling snow, her red hat and scarf keeping her warm.
