Lily is a small girl with warm light-brown skin, wavy dark brown hair and a tiny freckle on each cheek. Every night she puts on her sky-blue pajamas with white stars, slips into her fluffy cream slippers and carries her knitted lavender blanket, which makes her feel safe. One evening, as the sky turns pink and purple, a velvet moth as big as a small bird lands on her windowsill. Its dusty-rose wings are edged in silver, its golden eyes blink gently, and it speaks: its name is Moth, and it carries dream thread to mend torn dreams.
That night Lily's dream is all wrong: gray skies, twisted trees, dark clouds and broken branches. Moth flies into the dream with a tiny satchel of shimmering thread and, with gentle wingbeats, smooths the torn edges and stitches the pieces back together, turning gray to gold. From then on Moth visits every evening, sipping honey water from a dish Lily leaves on the windowsill, and when a dream full of thunder and lightning comes, Moth patches the holes and softens the storm into twinkling stars.
But one night Moth is too tired to mend anything. Lily wraps her lavender blanket around the little moth, and together they repair the dream side by side. The story shows young readers that worries can tangle dreams, that comfort and kindness can restore strength, and that friends help each other be brave. It suits children at bedtime and anyone who has ever been afraid of the dark.

A Chapter from the Book
The Girl and the Velvet Moth - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Lily was a small girl with warm light-brown skin and wavy dark brown hair that curled softly at her shoulders. Her large round hazel eyes sparkled with curiosity, and a tiny freckle danced on each cheek. Every night, she put on her soft skyblue pajamas with small white stars and her fluffy cream slippers. She carried her knitted lavender blanket everywhere, because it made her feel safe. 1
One evening, as the sun dipped low, Lily sat by her window watching the sky turn pink and purple. Suddenly, a soft flutter caught her eye. A velvet moth, as big as a small bird, landed on the windowsill. Its dusty-rose wings were edged in silver, and its tiny golden eyes blinked gently. Lily gasped. "You're beautiful!" she whispered. 2
The moth's fuzzy cream body shimmered with a faint glow, and delicate feathery antennae waved hello. "My name is Moth," it said in a tiny, kind voice. "I carry dream thread to mend torn dreams." Lily's eyes grew wide. "Torn dreams?" she asked. Moth nodded. "Sometimes dreams get messy and scary. I fix them with my wings." Lily felt a warm spark of hope. 3
That night, Lily climbed into bed and pulled her lavender blanket up to her chin. But when she closed her eyes, she saw a dream that was all wrong. The sky was gray, and the trees were twisted and torn. She tossed and turned, feeling frightened. Moth watched from the windowsill, its wings glowing softly. "Don't worry, Lily," it whispered. "I'll help." 4
Moth flew into Lily's dream, its velvet wings shimmering with silver light. The dream was a tangled mess of dark clouds and broken branches. "Oh dear," Moth said. "This dream needs repair." It opened its tiny satchel of shimmering dream thread and began to work. With gentle wingbeats, it smoothed the torn edges and stitched the pieces back together. 5
Lily watched from inside her dream as Moth worked. The moth's wings moved in a soft rhythm, and where they touched, the gray turned to gold. The twisted trees straightened and grew green leaves. The dark clouds melted into fluffy white shapes. "You're fixing it!" Lily cried. Moth smiled. "Dreams just need a little care," it said, its golden eyes twinkling. 6
When Lily woke up, the morning sun was warm on her face. She remembered the dream, but now it felt happy and bright. She looked around for Moth and found it resting on her windowsill, its rose velvet wings folded. "You mended my dream!" Lily said. Moth nodded. "I'll come every night if you like." Lily hugged her lavender blanket and smiled. 7
From then on, Moth visited Lily every evening. They became the best of friends. Lily learned that Moth loved honey water and moonlight. She would leave a tiny dish of honey on the windowsill, and Moth would sip it while they talked. "Why do dreams get torn?" Lily asked one night. "Sometimes worries tangle them up," Moth said gently. 8
One night, Lily had a dream about a loud thunderstorm. The thunder boomed, and the lightning flashed, and the dream was full of jagged holes. Lily whimpered in her sleep. Moth flew in quickly, its wings glowing brighter. "I'm here, Lily," it said. It darted around the dream, patching the holes with silver thread and softening the thunder to a gentle rumble. 9
Moth's velvet wings brushed against the stormy sky, and the lightning turned into twinkling stars. The rain became a soft drizzle that smelled like flowers. Lily felt the fear melt away. "You're so brave," she told Moth. "I'm only brave because you trust me," Moth replied. "Friends help each other be brave." Lily smiled in her sleep, feeling safe. 10
As the nights passed, Lily stopped being afraid of bedtime. She knew Moth would be there to mend any torn dreams. But one night, Moth looked tired. Its wings drooped, and its glow was faint. "I mended so many dreams today," Moth sighed. "I'm not sure I have the strength for yours." Lily sat up. "Then I'll help you," she said. 11
Lily had an idea. She took her lavender blanket and wrapped it gently around Moth. "This blanket makes me feel safe," she said. "Maybe it will give you comfort too." Moth snuggled into the soft knit, and slowly its glow grew brighter. "Thank you, Lily," it whispered. "Your kindness is the best comfort of all." Together, they flew into Lily's dream. 12
In the dream, they found a torn and messy corner. Lily held Moth's tiny satchel and handed it the shimmering thread. With Lily's help, Moth stitched the dream back together. The torn parts became a beautiful garden with roses and butterflies. "We did it together!" Lily cheered. Moth's wings sparkled with joy. "Teamwork makes dreams shine bright," it said. 13
After that night, Lily knew that comfort could come from the most unexpected friends. She looked forward to bedtime, knowing Moth would be there. Sometimes they mended dreams, and sometimes they just watched the stars through the window. Lily's lavender blanket and Moth's velvet wings became symbols of their special friendship. 14
Now, every night, Lily puts on her starry pajamas and snuggles under her lavender blanket. Moth flutters to the windowsill, its rose velvet wings glowing softly. "Ready for sweet dreams?" Moth asks. Lily nods and closes her eyes. With Moth beside her, bedtime feels safe and cheerful. She knows that no matter what, her friend will mend any torn dream.
