The Girl and the Tiny Unicorn - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK

Lily skipped along the path to Grandpa Oak's garden, her yellow rain boots tapping on the stones. She wore her blue overall dress over a striped red-and-white shirt and carried a small canvas satchel. Her chestnut hair bounced, and the little green leaf clip held it back from her freckled face. She loved this garden more than any place in the world. 1

Grandpa Oak waved from his vegetable patch. He wore his green gardener apron over a beige shirt and a wide straw hat. His grey beard bobbed as he laughed. 'The flowers are extra bright today, Lily,' he said. 'Maybe something magical is in the air.' Lily grinned, her gap-toothed smile wide, and ran toward the flower beds. 2

Near the old stone wall, Lily heard a tiny jingle. She peeked behind a bush of bluebells and gasped. There stood a unicorn no bigger than a teacup! It had a cream-white coat, a short fluffy mane in pastel rainbow colors, and big violet eyes. A stubby golden horn sparkled on its forehead, and a woven clover collar with a tiny silver bell hung around its neck. 3

'Hello,' whispered Lily, kneeling down. The tiny unicorn stamped a hoof and shook its rainbow mane. 'I'm Pip,' it said in a voice like a tinkling bell. 'I live in this garden. But something is wrong—the flowers are fading!' Lily looked around and saw that some blossoms had lost their color and drooped sadly. 4

Pip trotted to a wilted rosebush. 'The garden's magic is running out,' it said. 'We need to find the Heart Flower and bring it back to life. It's hidden deep in the garden.' Lily's hazel eyes grew wide. 'Then we must hurry!' she said. 'I'll help you, Pip.' 5

Pip led the way, its tiny hooves pattering on the dirt path. Lily followed, her satchel bouncing at her side. They passed sunflowers taller than Grandpa Oak and roses that smelled like honey. But more and more flowers were drooping. 'We have to be quick,' Pip said, its violet eyes serious. 'The garden is counting on us.' 6

Soon they reached a stream too wide to jump. Lily bit her lip. 'How will we cross?' Pip didn't hesitate. 'I'll find a way!' It scampered along the bank and found a fallen branch. 'Help me push it!' Pip called. Lily pushed the branch across the stream, and it made a bridge. 'You're so brave, Pip!' she said. Pip jingled its bell happily. 7

On the other side, they met a grumpy old turtle. 'No one may pass,' he said. 'I'm too tired to move.' Pip stepped forward. 'Please, sir,' it said politely. 'We're trying to save the garden. Can we help you?' The turtle's eyes softened. 'Well, if you could find my lost glasses...' Pip and Lily searched and found them under a fern. The turtle smiled and let them pass. 8

As they walked, Lily noticed that Pip never seemed afraid. 'Aren't you scared?' she asked. Pip looked up with its big violet eyes. 'Sometimes,' it admitted. 'But being small means I can squeeze into tight places. And courage isn't about size—it's about doing what's right.' Lily nodded, feeling braver too. 9

They reached a dark, thorny hedge. Beyond it, they could see a faint glow. 'The Heart Flower must be there!' Pip said. But the hedge was thick, and Lily couldn't push through. 'I can go,' Pip said. 'I'm small enough.' Lily worried. 'It might be dangerous!' Pip touched her hand with its tiny hoof. 'I'll be careful. Wait here.' 10

Pip squeezed through the thorns and disappeared. Lily waited, her heart thumping. Then she heard a tiny jingle and a happy neigh. Pip came back, its horn glowing. 'I found it! The Heart Flower is just beyond. But it's wilting—we need to bring it water from the stream.' Lily filled her satchel with water from a nearby puddle, and they hurried back to the flower. 11

Together, they poured the water at the Heart Flower's roots. At first, nothing happened. Then slowly, the flower lifted its head and glowed with a warm pink light. The light spread like ripples, touching every drooping flower. Colors returned, and the garden began to hum with life again. 'We did it!' Lily cheered. Pip jingled its bell and danced around her boots. 12

Grandpa Oak found them by the stream, his round spectacles glinting. 'I knew you two could do it,' he said, his warm dark eyes twinkling. 'The garden is saved.' Lily picked up Pip and held it close. 'Pip was the brave one,' she said. 'It led the way.' Pip nuzzled her cheek. 'We were brave together,' it said. 13

From that day on, Lily visited the garden every afternoon. She and Pip would play hide-and-seek among the flowers, and Pip would ride on Lily's shoulder, its tiny hooves tickling her ear. The garden stayed bright and cheerful, and the two friends were inseparable. 14

One sunny day, Grandpa Oak said, 'You know, Lily, courage comes in all sizes. Pip is the smallest creature here, but it has the biggest heart.' Lily nodded, her gap-toothed smile shining. 'And I learned that friends can be tiny but mighty,' she said. Pip jingled its bell in agreement, and they all laughed together. 15

And so, the girl and the tiny unicorn remained the best of friends, proving that no matter how small you are, courage and kindness can save the day. The magical garden flourished, and if you listen closely, you might hear the faint jingle of a silver bell and the happy laughter of a girl and her tiny unicorn.
