Lily is a small girl with warm light-brown skin and wavy dark brown hair, and on one clear night she sits in her garden watching the sky. A streak of silver light falls into the grass, and there she finds a tiny kitten no bigger than her palm, its body glowing white-silver with faint constellations shimmering across its fur. Lily names the little creature Twinkle, makes it a bed from a scarf in a shoebox, and feeds it drops of milk from a spoon. The kitten follows her everywhere, leaving tiny glows on the floor, and Lily feels a warm happiness she has never known before.
As the days pass, Twinkle grows restless and stares out the window at the night sky, its glow dimming whenever it looks at the stars. Lily realises that her new friend misses its celestial home, and she understands that friendship means caring for a friend even when it is hard. Packing her blue backpack with snacks, a flashlight and a map of the stars, she sets off into the woods behind her house with Twinkle glowing in her pocket like a tiny lantern. Along the way she is joined by the Moon Moth, a gentle lavender-winged guide who tells her of a sky-path leading to the tallest hill and a doorway to the stars.
The story follows Lily up the steep climb and to the circle of shimmering stones where the doorway opens under the high moon, and it explores the quiet courage of letting someone you love go home. Young readers who enjoy gentle animal companions, moonlit journeys and stories about kindness and friendship will find much to treasure here, and the tale offers a warm starting point for talking with children about what it means to put a friend's happiness before your own.

A Chapter from the Book
The Girl and the Star Kitten - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Lily was a small girl with warm light-brown skin and wavy dark brown hair that bounced as she walked. She wore a soft yellow dress dotted with tiny white stars, red sneakers, and a little blue backpack. One clear night, she sat in her garden, watching the sky. A streak of silver light zoomed down and landed in the grass with a soft plink. Lily tiptoed over to see what it was. 1
There, in the grass, lay a tiny kitten no bigger than Lily's palm. Its body glowed white-silver, and faint constellations shimmered across its fur. Its big blue eyes blinked up at her, and its tail left a trail of sparkles. Lily gasped. "You're made of starlight!" she whispered. The kitten purred, and its glow brightened. Lily gently scooped it up and held it close. 2
Lily carried the star kitten inside and made a cozy bed from a scarf in a shoebox. She fed it drops of milk from a spoon, and it lapped them up happily. The kitten followed her everywhere, its little paws leaving tiny glows on the floor. Lily laughed as it chased a dust mote. "I'll call you Twinkle," she said. Twinkle purred and glowed even brighter. Lily felt a warm, happy feeling inside. 3
As days passed, Twinkle grew restless. It stared out the window at the night sky and mewed softly. Lily noticed that its glow dimmed when it looked at the stars. "You miss your home, don't you?" she asked. Twinkle nuzzled her hand. Lily felt a tug in her heart. She knew that friendship meant taking care of a friend, even when it was hard. "I'll help you find your home," she promised. 4
Lily packed her blue backpack with snacks, a flashlight, and a map of the stars. She tucked Twinkle into her pocket, where it glowed like a tiny lantern. "We'll search for your celestial home," she said. Twinkle purred and its constellation markings sparkled. They set off into the night, following a path behind Lily's house that led to the woods. The trees whispered as they passed. 5
In the woods, Twinkle suddenly leaped from Lily's pocket and darted ahead. "Wait!" Lily called, running after it. The kitten's sparkly tail was easy to follow. It stopped at the edge of a stream and mewed. Lily picked it up. "You're excited, aren't you?" she said. Twinkle glowed brighter. They crossed the stream on stepping stones, and Lily's sneakers got a little wet. 6
As they walked, a soft flutter came from above. A large moth with pale lavender wings dusted in silver landed on a branch. Its amber eyes were round and kind, and it wore a tiny wovengrass collar with a pearl-like bead. "I am the Moon Moth," it said in a gentle voice. "I guide travelers. You are looking for the star kitten's home, yes?" Lily nodded, amazed. 7
The Moon Moth fluttered down and rested on Lily's shoulder. "The star kitten belongs in the sky," it said. "You must follow the sky-path to the tallest hill. There, you will find a doorway to the stars." Lily's eyes widened. "But how do we get there?" she asked. The moth smiled. "Follow the sparkling trail and trust your heart. I will help you along the way." 8
The Moon Moth led them through the woods to a path that glowed faintly under the moonlight. Twinkle's tail left a trail of sparkles that mingled with the path's glow. Lily felt brave with her two friends beside her. They walked until they reached the foot of a tall hill. "The sky-path begins here," the moth said. "Climb carefully, and do not look down." 9
The hill was steep, and Lily had to use her hands to climb. Twinkle rode in her pocket, its glow lighting the way. The Moon Moth fluttered above, its silver wings catching the moonlight. "You're doing well," it encouraged. Lily's legs were tired, but she kept going. She thought about Twinkle and how much she wanted it to be happy. That thought gave her strength. 10
At the top of the hill, they found a circle of smooth stones that shimmered like glass. The Moon Moth landed in the center. "This is the doorway," it said. "When the moon is high, it will open." Lily looked at Twinkle, who was glowing brighter than ever. "You'll be home soon," she whispered. Twinkle nuzzled her cheek. Lily felt happy and sad at the same time. 11
The moon rose high, and the circle of stones began to glow. A soft light rose from the center, forming a path of stars that led up into the sky. Twinkle jumped from Lily's pocket and stood at the edge of the light. It looked back at Lily with its big blue eyes. Lily's heart ached. "Go on," she said softly. "This is where you belong." 12
Twinkle took a step onto the star-path, then turned and mewed. Lily knelt down, and Twinkle rubbed against her hand one last time. "I'll never forget you," Lily whispered. The Moon Moth spoke gently. "You have been a true friend. Friendship means giving what is best for your friend, even when it is hard." Lily nodded, tears in her eyes. Twinkle glowed with a warm, golden light. 13
Twinkle walked up the star-path, its tail leaving a trail of sparkles. It turned once more and gave a tiny purr that echoed in the night. Then it blended into the stars, becoming one of them. Lily watched until she could not tell which star was Twinkle. The Moon Moth settled beside her. "You did well, Lily," it said.
