Marina lives in a little house by the sea and spends her mornings exploring the rocky shore, collecting shells and watching the waves. One day she discovers a narrow path between the cliffs that leads to a hidden lagoon, calm and sparkling like a secret, with bright coral glowing beneath the clear water. There she meets a young dolphin with a pearly belly and a pale spiral mark on its forehead, and after she waits patiently, the dolphin nudges her hand and a friendship begins.
Marina returns to the lagoon every day, bringing small treasures in her waterproof satchel, playing hide-and-seek among the coral, and learning to float on her back. When Splash leads her to an ancient coral arch that is fading, the Coral Keeper, a gentle creature with a translucent shell of living coral, asks why they want to help. Their answer sets them to work gathering healthy coral fragments and pressing them into the cracks, but the arch needs one more thing: the light of friendship.
The story follows Marina and Splash as patience turns into trust and trust turns into teamwork, and it closes with Grandpa Tomas, who recognises the lagoon from old legends and gives Marina his brass compass. Young readers who enjoy gentle sea adventures will find here a warm, simple tale about curiosity, kindness towards animals, and the idea that friendship is built one day at a time.

The Girl and the Secret Dolphin - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Marina lived in a little house by the sea. Every morning she explored the rocky shore, collecting shells and watching the waves. Her green eyes sparkled with curiosity. She wore a yellow swimsuit with white polka dots and a red ribbon in one of her chestnut braids. One day, she found a narrow path between the cliffs that she had never seen before. 1
The path led to a hidden lagoon, calm and sparkling like a secret. The water was so clear that Marina could see bright coral glowing below. 'Wow!' she whispered. 'This place is magical.' She tucked her blue canvas shorts into her satchel and stepped into the warm, shallow water. Tiny fish darted around her feet. 2
Suddenly, a silvery-blue shape glided through the water. It was a young dolphin with a pearly belly and a pale spiral mark on its forehead. Around its neck hung a strand of tiny glowing pearls. The dolphin peeked at Marina, then ducked shyly behind a coral tower. Marina held very still and smiled. 'Hello,' she said softly. 'I won't hurt you.' 3
The dolphin peeked out again, its large dark eyes curious. Marina stayed patient, floating quietly. After a long moment, the dolphin swam closer, then closer still. It nudged her hand gently with its nose. Marina giggled. 'You're friendly!' she said. The dolphin clicked and chirped, and its turquoise-edged fin flicked happily. Marina named it Splash. 4
Every day, Marina returned to the lagoon. She brought her waterproof satchel filled with small treasures: a shiny shell, a smooth pebble, a feather. Splash loved to examine each one. They played games of hide-and-seek among the coral, and Splash taught Marina how to float on her back without sinking. Trust began to grow, one day at a time. 5
One afternoon, Splash led Marina to a part of the lagoon she had never seen. There stood an ancient coral arch, tall and colorful, covered in pink and orange coral. But something was wrong. Bits of coral had broken off, and the arch looked weak. 'We need to help it,' Marina said. Splash nodded and chirped softly, as if agreeing. 6
Just then, a soft glowing creature emerged from behind the arch. It was the size of a large sea turtle, with a translucent shell of living coral and many tiny eyes. A crown of tiny coral branches sat on its shell. 'I am the Coral Keeper,' it said in a voice like soft bubbles. 'This arch is ancient and protects the lagoon. But it is fading.' 7
The Coral Keeper tested Marina and Splash gently. 'Why do you want to help?' it asked. Marina thought. 'Because this lagoon is beautiful, and I want it to stay safe for everyone,' she said. Splash clicked and swam close to her. The Coral Keeper's tiny eyes glowed warmly. 'Very well,' it said. 'Together, you may be able to save it.' 8
The Coral Keeper explained that the arch needed living coral pieces to grow strong again. Marina and Splash searched the lagoon for healthy coral fragments. Splash used its nose to gently break off small pieces, and Marina carried them in her satchel. They worked as a team, diving and collecting, until they had a pile of bright coral bits. 9
Back at the arch, the Coral Keeper showed them where to place each piece. Marina pressed the coral into the cracks, and Splash nudged them into place with its fin. Slowly, the arch began to glow again. The Coral Keeper's many eyes sparkled. 'You are doing wonderfully,' it said. 'But the arch needs one more thing: the light of friendship.' 10
Marina and Splash looked at each other. They had built trust through play and now through work. Marina placed her hand on the arch and Splash rested its fin beside hers. They thought of all their happy days together. A warm golden light flowed from their hands into the coral. The arch shone brighter than ever before. 11
The Coral Keeper spun with joy, its coral crown glittering. 'You have saved the arch!' it cheered. 'The lagoon is safe because you worked together.' Splash leaped high in the air and splashed back down, clicking happily. Marina laughed and hugged the dolphin's smooth neck. 'We did it, Splash!' she said. 'Friends can do anything together.' 12
That evening, Marina told Grandpa Tomas about the magical lagoon. His brown eyes twinkled as he listened. 'I knew you'd find it one day,' he said, stroking his white beard. 'The old legends say trust is built one day at a time, just like you did.' He gave her his brass compass. 'Keep exploring, my brave girl.' 13
From that day on, Marina visited the lagoon every afternoon. Splash was always waiting, and sometimes the Coral Keeper would appear, glowing softly. They played games and explored new corners of the reef. Marina learned that friendship is a treasure, and trust is the key that opens the door to wonderful adventures. 14
One day, Marina brought Grandpa Tomas to the lagoon. He stood at the edge, his straw hat in his hand, and smiled. 'It's just as I remembered,' he said. Splash swam close and chirped a greeting. 'You've made a true friend,' Grandpa said. 'And you've protected something precious.' Marina nodded, her green eyes shining with pride. 15
