Lily is a curious girl with wavy black hair and amber-brown eyes who wears a sky-blue nightgown covered in tiny white stars. Each night she stands at her window, whispers good night to the round silver moon, and watches a small fox glowing on its surface, its silver-white fur shimmering and a crescent-moon pendant hanging from a blue cord around its neck. She waves, the fox waves back, and she wonders whether it is lonely up there all alone. Her imagination turns the distant stranger into a friend before they have ever spoken.
One night a cool breeze pushes her window open and the moon fox appears on her windowsill, no bigger than a cat, its fur warm and soft and sparkling faintly. It speaks in a tiny musical voice and admits it has watched her wave every night. Touching its pendant, the fox carries Lily out into the starry sky, over sleepy rooftops and whispering trees, to a garden that only grows at night, where flowers shine like stars and trees hum gentle tunes. They explore winding paths and play hide-and-seek among the glowing blooms.
When the garden's light begins to fade, the fox explains that it needs imagination to shine, and Lily discovers that her own imagining is the strongest light of all. The story speaks to young readers about friendship, courage and the quiet power of a creative mind, and it suits children who are beginning to read longer tales on their own or to share at bedtime.

A Chapter from the Book
The Girl and the Moon Fox - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Lily stood at her window and looked up at the big round moon. The moon was bright and silver, and it seemed to smile down at her. She wore her sky-blue nightgown with tiny white stars, and her soft red slippers kept her toes warm. A thin yellow ribbon held back her wavy black hair. Her amber-brown eyes sparkled as she whispered, "Good night, Moon." 1
Then Lily saw something strange. A little fox was shining on the moon! It had soft silver-white fur that glowed like moonlight. Its golden eyes blinked, and its fluffy curled tail swished. A tiny crescent-moon pendant hung from a thin blue cord around its neck. Lily's heart beat fast with wonder. "A moon fox!" she breathed. "How can that be?" 2
Every night, Lily watched the moon fox from her window. She waved, and the fox waved back with one small paw. She wondered if it was lonely up there, all alone on the moon. Lily imagined what it would be like to have a friend like that. She imagined flying through the stars together. Her imagination made her smile, even when the night was dark. 3
One night, Lily left her window open just a crack. A cool breeze blew in, and then something else. A soft glow filled her room, and there was the moon fox! It sat on her windowsill, its fur shimmering with faint starry sparkles. "Hello," said Lily gently. The fox tilted its long ears and gave a shy little nod. "Would you like to be friends?" Lily asked. 4
The moon fox hopped down onto Lily's bed. It was about the size of a cat, and its fur felt warm and soft. "I have always wanted a friend," the fox said in a tiny, musical voice. "I watch you from the moon every night. You always wave at me." Lily's round cheeks dimpled with a happy smile. "I'm Lily," she said. "And I'm so glad you came!" 5
The moon fox flicked its fluffy tail. "Would you like to see something magical?" it asked. "Oh yes!" Lily said. The fox touched its crescent-moon pendant, and suddenly they were floating! They flew out the window and up into the starry sky. Lily held on tight as the wind rushed past her wavy black hair. Below, the houses looked like tiny toys. 6
They flew over sleepy rooftops and dark, whispering trees. The moon fox's glow lit their way like a friendly lantern. "Where are we going?" Lily asked. "To my favorite place," the fox said. "A garden that only grows at night. It's full of flowers that shine like stars." Lily's amber-brown eyes grew wide with excitement. She had never heard of such a garden. 7
Soon they landed in a garden that glowed with a soft, magical light. Flowers of every color bloomed everywhere, and they sparkled and twinkled like tiny stars. There were pink blossoms that shimmered, blue blooms that glowed, and yellow petals that danced in the breeze. "It's beautiful!" Lily whispered. The moon fox smiled. "Welcome to the glowing garden," it said. 8
The moon fox led Lily along a winding path. "Let's explore every path!" it said. They ran past flowers that opened as they passed and trees that hummed a gentle tune. Lily's imagination filled the garden with even more light. She pictured the flowers as little lanterns, and they glowed brighter. The fox laughed. "Your imagination makes everything shine!" 9
They played hide-and-seek among the glowing blooms. The moon fox hid behind a bush of sparkling purple flowers, its fluffy tail sticking out. Lily giggled and found it right away. Then Lily hid, and the fox used its golden eyes to spot her. "Found you!" it cried. They chased each other and explored every path until they knew the garden by heart. 10
Suddenly, the garden began to dim. The flowers' glow faded, and the air grew cool. "What's happening?" Lily asked. "The garden needs imagination to shine," the fox said sadly. "Without it, the light goes out." Lily thought hard. She closed her eyes and imagined the garden full of friendly fireflies and dancing stars. Slowly, the flowers began to glow again. 11
Lily opened her eyes. The garden was brighter than ever! The flowers sparkled like a thousand tiny suns. "You did it!" the moon fox cheered. "Your imagination is the most powerful light of all." Lily hugged the fox, and its fur felt warm and soft. "I couldn't have done it without you," she said. "You showed me the way." They smiled at each other. 12
The moon fox touched its crescent-moon pendant again. "It's time to go home," it said gently. "But we will always be friends." They flew back through the starry sky and landed softly in Lily's room. The fox hopped onto the windowsill. "Will you come back?" Lily asked. "Every night," the fox promised. "Just look at the moon and wave." 13
Lily climbed into bed, and the moon fox tucked her in with its fluffy tail. "Thank you for the adventure," Lily whispered. "Thank you for your imagination," the fox replied. "It made the garden bloom." It gave her a tiny lick on the cheek and then leaped into the sky. Lily watched until it was just a small glow on the moon. 14
The next morning, Lily told her mom about the moon fox and the glowing garden. Mom smiled and said, "What a wonderful imagination you have!" Lily knew it was real. She wore her yellow ribbon and smiled her gap-toothed smile. That night, she looked at the moon and waved.
