🎧 Listen to the Story · 7:19

In a cozy village at the edge of the woods, winter has painted everything white, and a girl named Lily steps out in her red pom-pom hat and blue mittens to follow a trail of tiny, glittering footprints. The tracks lead her to a fox no bigger than a small dog, whose fur looks like faceted ice and sends rainbows dancing across its back. The shy creature with big blue eyes asks her to follow, and their walk ends at a hidden grove where frost-spun trees and starry snow create a place that feels like a dream.

Lily soon learns that the grove is fragile. A fallen branch and a tiny crack in the ice show her that this beautiful place needs gentle hands. Together with the crystal fox she sweeps paths, clears twigs, polishes the ice trees, and catches icy leaves when a cold wind shakes the branches. Day after day the two become a team, proud of the quiet work that keeps their secret garden bright.

When the air softens and a single drop of water falls from an ice tree, Lily realizes spring is coming and worries the grove might melt away. The story follows her as she looks for a new way to care for the place she loves, showing young readers how attention, patience, and cooperation can protect something delicate. It is a gentle winter tale for children and for anyone who reads aloud to them.

The Girl and the Crystal Fox - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK

In a cozy village at the edge of the woods, winter had painted everything white. A girl named Lily stepped out in her red pom-pom hat, mustard-yellow coat, and blue mittens. Her boots crunched on the fresh snow as she followed a trail of tiny footprints. They glittered like scattered diamonds, leading her toward the tall pine trees. Lily's amber eyes sparkled with curiosity as she wondered who had made them. 1

Behind a snow-covered bush, something moved. Lily peeked and saw a fox no bigger than a small dog. Its fur looked like faceted ice, and when the sun touched it, rainbows danced across its back. Its big blue eyes blinked shyly, and a faint rainbow shimmer trailed behind its white-tipped tail. Lily gasped softly. "Hello," she whispered. "You're beautiful." The fox tilted its head and took a tiny step closer. 2

The crystal fox gave a playful hop and glanced back at Lily. Then it trotted a few steps and stopped, as if asking her to follow. Lily pulled her striped scarf snug and hurried after it. They wound between snowy trees, over a frozen stream, and past a hill. The air grew still and sparkly. "Where are we going?" Lily asked. The fox just flicked its sparkling tail and kept moving. 3

At last, the fox stopped at a curtain of ivy hanging over a rock. It nudged the leaves aside with its crystalline paw. Behind it, a secret grove opened up. Lily's breath caught in her throat. The grove was full of glittering ice and soft, pillowy snow. The trees were spun from frost, and the ground sparkled like a thousand tiny stars. "Oh!" Lily breathed. "It's like a dream." 4

The fox padded into the grove, its paws leaving tiny sparkles on the snow. Lily followed slowly, afraid to break anything. The ice trees shimmered with all the colors of a rainbow, and the snow felt as soft as feathers. "Is this your home?" Lily asked. The fox nodded its head and gave a soft, happy yip. Lily smiled. "It's the most beautiful place I've ever seen." 5

But then Lily noticed a fallen branch lying across the path. When she lifted it, a tiny crack appeared in the ice beneath. She gasped. "Oh no!" she whispered. "This place is very delicate." The fox's blue eyes looked worried. Lily gently set the branch aside. "We must be careful," she said. The fox nudged her mitten with its nose, as if to say, "Yes, we must." 6

The next day, Lily came back with a small broom. She swept the fallen branches and twigs away from the paths. The crystal fox trotted beside her, checking the ice for any cracks. "We'll take care of it together," Lily said. The fox gave a happy little bark. They worked side by side, their breath puffing in the cold air. The grove began to look tidy and bright again. 7

Every day after that, Lily and the fox visited the secret grove. Lily swept the snow from the little ice benches and cleared the paths. The fox polished the ice trees with its sparkling paws until they gleamed. Sometimes they found a broken icicle and carefully put it back. "We make a good team," Lily said. The fox's rainbow shimmer danced as it wagged its tail. 8

One afternoon, a cold wind blew through the grove. It shook the frosty branches, and a shower of icy leaves fell. Lily and the fox hurried to catch them. "Quick!" Lily cried. They gathered the icy leaves and placed them back on the trees. The wind died down, and the grove sparkled again. The fox licked Lily's blue mitten. "We saved it," Lily whispered, smiling. 9

As winter went on, Lily and the fox cared for the grove every single day. They swept away fallen branches and kept the paths clear. They checked each ice tree for cracks and polished the snow until it shone. The grove stayed bright and beautiful. "It's like a secret garden," Lily said. The fox's blue eyes twinkled. They were proud of their work. 10

Then one morning, Lily noticed something new. The air felt softer, and a single drop of water dripped from an ice tree. "Oh!" she said. "Spring is coming." The fox looked at her with its big blue eyes. Lily felt a little sad. "Will the grove melt away?" she asked. The fox nuzzled her hand. It seemed to say, "Don't worry." 11

Lily thought for a moment. Then she smiled. "We'll take care of it in a new way," she said. She gathered soft moss and placed it around the trees. She built little shade shelters with branches. The fox helped by carrying twigs. "This will keep the ice cool," Lily explained. The fox gave a happy yip, and its rainbow shimmer glowed brighter. 12

As spring warmed the air, the grove began to change. The ice trees softened and turned into sparkling streams. The snow melted into tiny flowers. But because Lily and the fox had cared for it, the grove didn't disappear. It became a new kind of beautiful. The fox's fur still shone with rainbows. Lily laughed. "It's still magical!" she said. 13

The rainbow fox smiled its fox smile. It led Lily to the edge of the grove, where a tiny rainbow arched over the melting stream. "Thank you," Lily said. "For showing me this place." The fox licked her cheek. Lily understood something important. Lovely things stay bright when we treat them with care. She promised to visit often. The fox gave a final, happy bark.
