The Boy and the Silver Dolphin - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Leo was a small boy with warm light-brown skin and short curly black hair. He loved the ocean more than anything. Every morning, he pulled on his bright yellow swim shorts and pushed his blue goggles up on his forehead. Then he ran barefoot across the warm sand to the water. The waves felt cool and friendly around his ankles, and the salty wind made him laugh. 1
Leo swam out past the gentle waves, kicking his legs and watching the sunlight dance on the water. Suddenly, something shiny moved beneath him. It was a dolphin! The dolphin had smooth blue-grey skin and shimmering silver markings along its back and fins. Its dark eyes looked kind, and its mouth curved into a gentle smile. Leo gasped. He had never seen anything so beautiful. 2
The silver dolphin popped its head above the water and made a cheerful clicking sound. "Hello!" Leo said, treading water. The dolphin nodded and splashed its sparkling silver tail flukes. Leo laughed with delight. He felt curious and brave. The dolphin swam a little circle and looked back at him, as if to say, "Follow me!" So Leo took a deep breath and followed his new friend. 3
The dolphin led Leo to a place where the water turned deep and clear. "Hold on to my fin," the dolphin seemed to say. Leo grabbed the smooth fin, and down they went. The world turned blue and quiet. Fish with stripes and spots swam past. Leo's heart beat fast, but he was not afraid. His friend was with him. 4
Deeper and deeper they swam, until Leo saw something amazing. Below them, in the dark blue water, lights were glowing. Not just a few lights, but hundreds of them! They twinkled like stars. The dolphin gave a happy whistle. Leo pointed and bubbles floated up from his smile. He could not believe his eyes. 5
As they came closer, Leo saw a whole city under the sea! Towers made of pale stone rose up, covered in tiny glowing creatures. The lights shimmered in soft blues and greens. Bridges of coral connected the towers. It was the most magical place Leo had ever seen. The dolphin swam slowly so Leo could look at everything. 6
A graceful figure glided toward them. It was a mermaid with long wavy teal hair floating around her. She wore a small crown of shells and a flowing silver-blue wrap. In her hand she held a staff that glowed softly. "Welcome, little ones," she said in a gentle voice. "I am the guardian of this city. We are happy to have visitors." 7
The mermaid guardian led them to a tower that glowed like a giant lantern. Inside, the walls sparkled with tiny lights. "These are our light towers," she said. "They shine for everyone who comes in peace." Leo touched the cool stone, and the lights twinkled brighter. The dolphin swam around him, its silver markings shimmering in the glow. 8
Next, they visited the bright gardens. Fields of sea flowers swayed in the gentle current. Some glowed pink, some blue, some yellow like sunshine. Small fish darted between the petals. "Oh!" Leo said, his eyes wide. The dolphin playfully nudged a flower, and it puffed out a cloud of sparkling seeds. Leo giggled, and the mermaid smiled. 9
The guardian showed them a hidden cave filled with treasures. There were pearls the size of grapes, shiny shells, and coins that glittered. Leo looked at the treasures, but he did not want to take any. He was happy just to see them. The dolphin nodded wisely. "The best treasures are the ones we share," the mermaid said softly. 10
Suddenly, a strong current pushed Leo. He tumbled and lost his grip on the dolphin's fin. For a moment, he felt scared. The water spun around him, and he could not see his friends. But then, the silver dolphin was there, shining in the dark. It wrapped a fin around Leo like a hug. Leo felt brave again. 11
The mermaid guardian raised her glowing staff and the current calmed. "You are safe," she said. "Your friend never left your side." Leo hugged the dolphin's neck. "Thank you," he whispered. The dolphin gave a soft whistle. They had faced the scary moment together, and now they were ready to explore more. 12
Before Leo had to go home, the dolphin showed him one more secret: a tunnel lined with glowing crystals that led to a quiet pool. "This is my favorite place," the dolphin seemed to say. Leo sat on a smooth stone, and the dolphin rested its head on his knee. They stayed there, quiet and happy, sharing the peace of the deep. 13
It was time to go back up. The mermaid guardian waved goodbye. "Come again, little friend," she said. The dolphin took Leo's hand and swam slowly upward. Leo watched the glowing city fade into the blue. He felt proud and brave. He had explored a magical place, and his friend had helped him every step of the way. 14
When they reached the surface, the sun was warm on Leo's face. He climbed onto the beach and turned to wave. The silver dolphin leaped high into the air, its tail flukes sparkling. "Goodbye!" Leo called. "See you tomorrow!" The dolphin whistled and splashed, then disappeared beneath the waves.
