Leo is a boy who loves to run, with messy brown hair, a bright red t-shirt and yellow sneakers that never stand still. One sunny morning in the park he stops in front of a smooth gray stone, where a turtle named Goldie sits with a shell that shines like gold, glowing with spiral patterns and carrying a rolled parchment map tied with a thin blue ribbon. Goldie explains that the map leads to a secret ancient garden, but the path is hidden and only patience will reveal it.
Leo wants to dash ahead, yet every stage of the journey asks him to slow down. The map marks a resting stone under an oak tree, a shallow stream that only sparkles once the sun has moved, a hedge maze whose twig arrows appear to those who watch carefully, and an ivy-covered wall that opens only after a wait. Each time Leo wants to push through, Goldie's calm voice guides him to sit, watch and take one small step at a time.
Through this single journey the story shows young readers what patience makes possible: the hidden path appears, the dark tunnel is crossed, and the ancient garden of flowers, fountains and golden light opens before them. It is a gentle tale for children and for anyone reading aloud with them, offering a simple lesson about slowing down and noticing what hurried eyes miss.

A Chapter from the Book
The Boy and the Golden Turtle - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Leo was a boy who loved to run. He had messy brown hair, a bright red t-shirt, and yellow sneakers that never stood still. One sunny morning, he raced through the park, eager to see everything at once. But then he stopped. On a smooth gray stone sat a turtle with a shell that shone like gold. 1
The turtle's shell had glowing spiral patterns that swirled like tiny galaxies. It carried a rolled parchment map tied with a thin blue ribbon. Leo's brown eyes grew wide with wonder. 'Hello,' said the turtle in a slow, wise voice. 'My name is Goldie. I have a map to a secret garden, but the path is not easy to find.' 2
Leo grinned his quick, eager smile. 'A secret garden? Let's go right now!' He dashed ahead, but the turtle moved slowly, one small step at a time. 'Wait,' said Goldie gently. 'The map shows the way, but we must follow it carefully.' Leo sighed, but he sat down beside the turtle, ready to listen. 3
Goldie unrolled the map with its short, sturdy legs. The parchment showed winding paths, tiny trees, and a garden at the center. 'This is an ancient garden,' Goldie explained, 'full of flowers and light. But the path is hidden, and only patience will reveal it.' Leo nodded, though his feet still wanted to run. 4
They started walking, but Leo kept rushing ahead. He tripped over roots and scattered leaves. 'Slow down,' said Goldie. 'The map marks a resting stone just ahead.' Leo looked and saw a flat rock under an oak tree. He sat down, breathing hard. 'I guess rushing makes me tired,' he said. Goldie smiled and nodded. 5
At the resting stone, Goldie pointed to a tiny drawing on the map. 'See this little stream? We must cross it where the water is shallow.' Leo looked around. 'I don't see any stream,' he said. 'We have to wait for the sun to move,' said Goldie. 'Then the water will sparkle and show us the way.' 6
Leo wanted to argue, but he remembered the turtle's calm voice. He sat quietly and watched the sky. Slowly, the sun moved, and a thin line of water glittered between the trees. 'There it is!' Leo shouted. He started to run, but Goldie said, 'Walk gently. The stones are slippery.' Leo walked carefully, and they crossed safely. 7
On the other side, the map showed a maze of tall hedges. Leo groaned. 'I hate waiting! Let's just push through.' Goldie shook its wise head. 'The maze has a hidden path, but it only appears if we move slowly and watch for clues.' Leo took a deep breath and followed the turtle's slow, steady steps. 8
As they walked, Leo noticed tiny arrows made of twigs on the ground. 'Look!' he said. 'Those must be the clues.' Goldie nodded. 'Patience helps you see what others miss.' They followed the twig arrows one by one. The hedges seemed to open up, and a narrow path appeared, just wide enough for a boy and a small turtle. 9
The path led to a tall stone wall covered in ivy. Leo's heart sank. 'It's a dead end!' But Goldie pointed to a small hole at the bottom. 'The map says we must wait here until the ivy parts.' Leo wanted to climb over, but he sat down and waited. After a while, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and the ivy slowly moved aside. 10
Through the gap, Leo saw a shimmering light. 'The garden!' he whispered. But Goldie said, 'There is one more step. We must walk through the dark tunnel without rushing.' Leo felt a little scared, but he held the turtle's warm shell. 'I can do it,' he said. They walked slowly, step by step, until they saw a bright opening ahead. 11
When they stepped out, Leo gasped. The ancient garden was full of colorful flowers, sparkling fountains, and golden light that danced on every leaf. 'We made it!' Leo cheered. Goldie smiled. 'You learned to be patient, Leo. That is why the path appeared.' Leo looked back at the map and saw a new word written in tiny letters: 'Patience.' 12
Leo sat beside a fountain and watched the golden light. 'I always thought rushing was the best way,' he said. 'But waiting helped us find the hidden path.' Goldie nodded. 'The garden was always here, but only patient eyes could see the way.' Leo smiled and felt proud of every slow step they had taken together. 13
They explored the garden, and Leo named every flower he could. Goldie told stories of the garden's ancient keepers. As the sun began to set, Leo knew it was time to go. 'Will you come back with me?' he asked. Goldie shook its golden head. 'This is my home now. But you can keep the map.' Leo hugged the turtle gently. 14
On the way home, Leo followed the map's path in reverse, and it felt easier now. He walked slowly, noticing small wonders he had missed before: a ladybug on a leaf, a mushroom shaped like a hat, a bird's song in the trees. When he reached his house, he carefully placed the map on his shelf. 15
From that day on, Leo remembered the golden turtle. Whenever he felt impatient, he would take a deep breath and look around. He learned that patience is like a hidden path—it appears when you slow down and wait. And sometimes, the most wonderful things are found one small step at a time.
