Leo loves sunny mornings in his garden, where he wears his red cap and carries his green satchel, always ready for adventure. One day a flash of brilliant blue catches his eye: a blue morpho butterfly lands on a bright flower, its wings shimmering like tiny mirrors in the sun. Captivated by the black edges and little white spots, Leo creeps closer, sits very still, and watches the butterfly open and close its wings, feeling as if he has stepped into a fairy tale. Eager to learn more, he runs to tell his mother, who encourages him to keep watching, and he returns with his notebook to observe the butterfly day after day.
As the story unfolds, Leo draws pictures, counts the white spots, and studies the slender body and antennae up close, noticing the tiny scales that look like colorful dust. His curiosity leads him to an art project with his mother, mixing blue and black paint to recreate the wing patterns, then to books that teach him the wings are not truly blue but reflect light through tiny scales. He paints more butterflies, makes a large poster covered with flowers, leaves, and nature words, and finally shares his work at a small art show for friends and neighbors, answering their questions and inspiring them to visit the garden themselves.
This gentle children's tale is for young readers and for adults reading aloud with them. It shows how patient observation, questions, and creative work can turn everyday wonder into knowledge and art, and it celebrates the curiosity that nature sparks in a child.

A Chapter from the Book
The Boy and the Blue Morpho - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Leo loved sunny mornings in his garden. He wore his red cap and green satchel, ready for adventure. One day, a flash of blue caught his eye. A butterfly with brilliant blue wings fluttered past. "Wow!" Leo whispered, his dark brown eyes wide. He watched the butterfly land on a bright flower. Its wings shimmered like tiny blue mirrors in the sun. 1
The butterfly's wings were amazing. Leo crept closer to see. The wings had black edges with little white spots. They sparkled in the sunlight. Leo's round cheeks glowed with excitement. He wanted to know everything about this beautiful creature. He sat very still, and the butterfly opened and closed its wings slowly. Leo felt like he was in a fairy tale. 2
Leo ran to tell his mom. "Mom, I saw the most beautiful butterfly!" he said. His mom smiled warmly, her dark eyes kind. "That sounds wonderful, Leo," she said. "Why don't you watch it some more?" Leo grabbed his green satchel and a notebook. He hurried back to the garden. He wanted to learn all about the blue morpho butterfly. 3
Every day, Leo visited the garden. He watched the butterfly flutter from flower to flower. He drew pictures in his notebook. He wrote down what he saw. The butterfly's wings were like magic. "How do they get so blue?" Leo wondered. He noticed the white spots along the black edges. He counted them: one, two, three... He wanted to know more. 4
Leo decided to study the butterfly up close. He moved very slowly. The butterfly didn't fly away. It trusted him. Leo saw the tiny scales on its wings. They looked like colorful dust. He saw the slender dark body and thin antennae. The butterfly was calm and graceful. Leo felt lucky to be so close. He whispered, "Thank you for letting me watch you." 5
Leo had an idea. He wanted to make an art project about wing patterns. He ran to his mom. "Mom, can I make art about the butterfly?" he asked. His mom put on her painting apron. "Of course, Leo!" she said. "Let's get your art supplies." They spread paper, paints, and brushes on the table. Leo's eyes sparkled with excitement. 6
Leo started to paint. He mixed blue and black paint. He painted the butterfly's wings with bright blue. He added black edges and white spots. He used a thin brush for the antennae. His mom watched and smiled. "You're noticing so many details," she said. Leo painted carefully, remembering every pattern he had seen. The blue on his paper looked almost real. 7
Leo painted more butterflies. Each one had different patterns. He painted them on flowers and leaves. He used many shades of blue. Some wings were light, some dark. He added tiny white dots. His mom brought him a snack. "Your art is beautiful," she said. Leo felt proud. He wanted to show everyone how amazing nature is. 8
Leo's curiosity grew. He read books about butterflies. He learned that blue morpho wings are not really blue. They have tiny scales that reflect light. "That's why they sparkle!" Leo told his mom. He added this fact to his art project. He wrote a little note next to his painting. "Nature is full of surprises," he wrote. 9
Leo decided to make a big poster. He painted a giant blue morpho butterfly. He used bright blue paint and a steady hand. He added black borders and white spots. Around the butterfly, he painted flowers and leaves. He wrote words like "butterfly," "wings," and "nature." His mom helped him hang it on the wall. It looked wonderful. 10
One day, Leo's mom said, "Let's show your art to others." They set up a small art show in the living room. Leo invited his friends and neighbors. He stood next to his poster, wearing his red cap. He told everyone about the blue morpho butterfly. "Its wings are like tiny mirrors," he explained. Everyone listened with interest. 11
His friends asked questions. "How did you paint the spots so neatly?" asked one. "I practiced a lot," Leo said. His mom smiled proudly. "Leo's curiosity inspired him to create this art," she said. Leo felt happy. He had shared his wonder with others. Many friends wanted to visit the garden to see the butterfly too. 12
The butterfly returned to the garden. Leo watched it flutter by. He felt grateful for the inspiration. He knew that nature would always spark new ideas. His mom gave him a hug. "I'm so proud of you, Leo," she said. "You turned your curiosity into something beautiful." Leo smiled his gap-toothed smile. He was already thinking about his next project. 13
Leo continued to watch butterflies. He drew them in different colors. He learned about other insects too. His green satchel was full of notebooks and drawings. He loved exploring the garden. His curiosity kept growing every day. He knew that there was always more to discover. Nature was his favorite teacher. 14
Leo's art project stayed on the wall. It reminded him of the blue morpho butterfly. He looked at it and smiled. He remembered the shimmering wings and the white spots. He remembered how the butterfly trusted him. His mom said, "Your art captures the beauty of nature." Leo nodded. He felt proud of what he had made.
