Bear lives in a cozy cave at the edge of a whispering wood, and he wears a green gardening apron with a deep front pocket. One morning, while sweeping his cave floor, he lifts a loose stone and discovers a tunnel that leads down into darkness. Curious, he squeezes through and finds a hidden garden that is cool, still, and choked with tangled weeds, where only a few pale shoots struggle in the gloom. Bear decides at once that he will make it beautiful.
His big paws are not made for delicate work, so help arrives in the form of Mole, small and sturdy, with velvety grey fur, a pink snout, a little blue scarf, and large shovel-like claws perfect for digging. Together they pull the weeds and loosen the soil. Bear sprinkles seeds from his apron pocket, but he wants flowers immediately and finds the waiting hard. Mole teaches him to water the seeds, to check the soil with his paw, and to be patient while the garden wakes up.
The story follows the two friends through days of quiet tending, from the first tiny green shoot to the small closed bud and, at last, a sunny yellow bloom. It is a gentle tale for young readers about patience, cooperation, and the reward that comes from caring for something over time, and it suits children who are just beginning to enjoy longer picture-book stories.

The Bear's Secret Garden - Author : Ebru Mina TOMURCUK
Bear lived in a cozy cave at the edge of a whispering wood. His fur was warm brown, and his muzzle and belly were soft tan. He wore a green gardening apron with a deep front pocket. One morning, while sweeping his cave floor, he noticed a loose stone. He lifted it and found a tunnel leading down into darkness. "What could be down there?" he wondered, his small dark eyes wide with curiosity. 1
Bear squeezed through the tunnel. It opened into a hidden garden, but it was not like the sunny gardens above. The air was cool and still, and the ground was covered with tangled weeds. A few pale shoots struggled in the gloom. "Oh," Bear whispered, "this garden is sad and forgotten. But I will make it beautiful!" His black nose twitched with excitement. He wanted flowers right away. 2
Bear tugged at the weeds, but they were tough and deeprooted. His big paws were not made for such delicate work. "I need help," he sighed. Just then, a small voice said, "I can help." It was Mole, small and sturdy, with dark grey velvety fur and a pink snout. She wore a little blue scarf. Her large shovellike claws were perfect for digging. 3
Mole looked around the dark garden. "First, we must dig out the weeds and loosen the soil," she said calmly. Bear nodded and began to dig with his big paws. Mole's claws worked quickly, turning the earth. They dug side by side, and slowly the weeds disappeared. "This is hard work," Bear panted, "but it feels good." Mole smiled. "Now we have a clean bed for seeds." 4
Bear's green apron pocket was full of seeds. He sprinkled them over the soil, but then he frowned. "Where are the flowers?" he asked. "I want to see them now!" Mole shook her head gently. "Seeds need time," she said. "We must water them and be patient." Bear sighed. He was not good at waiting. But he trusted Mole, so he picked up a small watering can. 5
Every day, Bear and Mole watered the garden. Bear would check the soil, hoping to see green. "Nothing yet," he grumbled. Mole patted his paw. "Patience," she said. "The seeds are waking up." Bear tried to be patient, but it was hard. He wanted bright flowers everywhere. He wanted the garden to be happy right now. Still, he kept watering. 6
One morning, Bear saw a tiny green shoot pushing through the soil. "Mole! Mole!" he called. "Something is growing!" Mole hurried over, her pink snout twitching. "Yes," she said. "The seeds are sprouting. You see? Patience works." Bear's small dark eyes sparkled. He felt a warm glow inside. More shoots appeared each day, and Bear watered them carefully, humming a little tune. 7
The shoots grew taller and stronger. Bear and Mole tended them every day. They pulled tiny weeds and kept the soil soft. Bear no longer grumbled. He began to enjoy the quiet work. "This garden is our secret," he said. Mole nodded. "And it is getting happier," she replied. The cave above them felt warmer too, as if the garden's joy was seeping up through the stone. 8
Then one day, Bear spotted a small bud. It was tightly closed, but it promised a flower. "It's coming!" he whispered. Mole smiled. "Yes, and there will be many more." Bear wanted to shout with joy. He wanted to dance. But he remembered patience. He watered the bud gently and waited. The next morning, the bud was still closed. "Soon," Mole said. 9
Bear learned to wait. He watched the buds every day, and each day they grew a little bigger. He talked to them softly. "Take your time," he said. "I can wait." Mole taught him to check the soil with his paw and to water only when it was dry. Bear's green apron pocket now held a small trowel and a packet of seeds. He felt proud of his garden. 10
One bright morning, the first flower opened. It was a sunny yellow bloom, like a little sun in the dim garden. Bear gasped. "It's beautiful!" he cried. Mole clapped her pink paws. "You see? Patience brings rewards." Bear danced around the flower, his shaggy coat bouncing. More buds were swelling, ready to open. The garden was coming alive at last. 11
Day after day, more flowers bloomed. Red, blue, and purple blossoms nodded in the gentle air. The garden was no longer dark and weedy. It was a rainbow of color. Bear and Mole watered and weeded, and the flowers grew stronger. "I never knew waiting could feel so good," Bear said. Mole smiled. "Patience makes wonderful things happen." 12
Now the cave is a happy, colorful home for both friends. Bear's green apron pocket holds a tiny bouquet of fresh flowers. Mole's blue scarf is often dusted with pollen. They sit together in the secret garden, listening to the quiet. "Thank you for helping me," Bear says. "And for teaching me to wait." Mole nods. "And thank you for finding this place." 13
Bear still visits the garden every day. He waters the flowers and talks to them. Sometimes he brings a book and reads aloud. The flowers seem to listen. Mole often joins him, and they share berries and stories. The garden has become their favorite spot. Bear's small dark eyes shine with happiness. He has learned that good things come to those who wait.
